The Offenes Neukölln Festival (ONK), an initiative of Bündnis Neukölln against racism and discrimination in the neighborhoods of our district, is taking place in the first weekend of June. 

We are pulling off a live-streaming event as part of the ONK acts, that focuses on “Songs of migrating birds”: Mediterranean folk music and polyphonic singing traditions from the Balkans, Georgia and Greece. Songs in as many languages as the countries we are coming from. Songs as cultural bridges. 

This concert is taking place during highly concerning times: incidents of fatal police brutality and repression worldwide, inhuman living conditions in the overcrowded refugee camps in Greece, a humanitarian crisis spreading with the pandemic, exposing deep inequalities in the access of basic medical care and financial security on a worldwide scale, a disturbing turn to the right in whole Europe giving room to conservative, anachronistic and anti-migrant policies, plenty of incidents of assault by Neonazis against nonwhite people and activists openly engaging in antiracist initiatives in Germany and in our Neukölln. 

We invite you to raise your voice with us against racism and discrimination, against the very system that bares them, in support for an alert, open and solidary community through the platform of Offenes Neukölln!

Das Offene Neukölln Festival (ONK), eine Initiative des Bündnis Neukölln gegen Rassismus und Diskriminierung in den Nachbarschaften unseres Stadtteils, findet in diesem Jahr wieder Anfang Juni statt.

Als Act des ONK veranstalten wir ein Live-Stream-Event mit dem Motto „Songs of migrating birds“, (Lieder von Zugvögeln) mediterrane Folk Lieder und polyphone Gesänge vom Balkan, Georgien und Griechenland. Lieder gesungen in so vielen Sprachen, wie die Länder aus denen wir stammen, Lieder als kulturelle Brücken.

Das Konzert findet zu einer sehr beunruhigenden Zeit statt: Fälle von brutaler Polizeigewalt und Unterdrückung weltweit, unmenschliche Zustände in überfüllten Flüchtlingscamps, die Ausbreitung einer humanitären Krise mit der Pandemie, stärker werdendes schwerwiegendes Ungleichgewicht beim Zugang zu medizinischer Versorgung und finanzieller Absicherung auf internationaler Ebene, eine verstörende Zuwendung zu rechten Bewegungen in ganz Europa, die konservativer, anachronistischer und anti-Einwanderungspolitik Raum gibt, zahlreiche Fälle von Übergriffen durch Neo-Nazis auf nicht-weiße Menschen und Aktivist*innen, die sich öffentlich für antirassistische Initiativen und gegen Diskriminierung in Deutschland und in unserem Neukölln einsetzen.

Wir laden euch dazu ein, gemeinsam mit uns eure Stimme gegen Rassismus und Diskriminierung zu erheben, gegen den Kern des Systems dem sie entspringen, um ein Zeichen für eine offene und solidarische Gemeinschaft über die Plattform vom Offenen Neukölln zu setzen!
