Worum es geht
For the fifth year in a row, colleagues from across Vectura sites in the UK, France, Germany and Switzerland are taking to their bikes to raise money for charities supporting people living with respiratory diseases.
For 2019, to enable even more colleagues to get on their bikes and raise money for a great cause, we are organising two events:
- Vectura Epic Route: from Lyon to Paris, approximately 300 miles over four epic days from 11th – 14th July
- Vectura Fun Routes: 20–25 mile route starting and finishing at Gauting site on Friday 5th July.
As always there are three simple goals:
- Safety: Every rider and support helper to remain safe during and after the event and to arrive at the finish without injury. Tired legs and a sore bottom are ok but that's all!
- Fun: We want to enjoy the challenge, take the opportunity to do something new and to join together as a team to achieve a fantastic result.
- Patient-Focus: This is one of Vectura's core values. We want to raise a lot of money to help support people living with respiratory diseases.
All sites support local charities, like Asthma UK, Lungenliga (CH) and Vaincre la Mucoviscidose Association (France). The German site will support the pulmonale hypertonie e.v., which help patients suffering with PH (Pulmonary Hypertension).
About pulmonale hypertonie e.v.:
- This foundation is dedicated to help patients and their families to cope with their personal fate in relation to this disease.
- The foundation established an information service for patients and other interested people and an international co-operation with different institutions dealing with PH.
- They provide information on symptoms, diagnosis and therapy options and arrange contacts to specialised physicians. For this purpose, the association compiles literature on PH and gets it translated if it is needed.
- Furthermore, the self-help group wants to contribute to medical research in this disease, together with physicians and supported by friends, members and sponsors. With the help of grants they would like to support promising scientific projects which otherwise could not be handled.
