Weltweit besuchen 130 Millionen Mädchen gar keine Schule. In den ärmsten Ländern dieser Welt dürfen Jungs im Schnitt sogar doppelt so lange die Schulbank drücken wie ihre Mitschülerinnen. Doch auch dort, wo Mädchen der Weg zur Bildung offen steht, sind sie mit Hürden und Vorurteilen konfrontiert, z. B. in Deutschland, wenn sie technische und naturwissenschaftliche Berufe erlernen wollen.

It’s 2018 and still far too few girls and young women have access to proper education and schooling. 130 million girls worldwide don’t even get the chance to go to school, whereas, in the poorest countries, boys are allowed to visit higher educational institutions for twice as long as their female counterparts. But even in countries where access to at least basic education doesn’t seem to be an issue, girls are still facing prejudice and all sorts of hoops to jump through when it comes to building careers in science and IT.
