Worum es geht
We are skateboarding from Southbank (London,UK) to Munster (Germany), fundraising and making a movie - part documentary, part skate video, and part travelogue. The Great Euro Skate is a documentary, filmed across 5 countries, 500 miles in 14 days via standard street decks and leg power only. It also sets a new accidental world record category for distance street skaters.
The Cause :
Skate-aid supports kids in areas of conflict or deprivation by bringing skateboarding to their communities. In times of adversity skateboarding brings unity, equality and a stable social environment enabling great growth in self confidence, self worth and most importantly good times. £5000 can change everything for these kids and transform a community and the future of it. Supplying skateboards, building new skateparks and the tools to provide education and brighter, safer futures. Every little helps. Skate-aid supports projects all over the world including Afghanistan, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Costa Rica and many more. If you would like your donation to go to a specific area then please state and we will make sure this happens. Thank you.
An Arborist & A carpenter, - 2 friends, 2 boards, 500miles in 14 days across 5 countries #thegreateuroskate two regular guys, be the change.
Gareth Ellison and James Clark have known each other forever. At school they skated together and began playing and touring in UK bands. The DIY philosophy runs deep and is at the heart of their next adventure, The Great Euro Skate.
We will be filming the journey across Europe, including everyday things we come across, the new people we meet, diverse communities and the freaky things along the road. Its going to be hard and full of surprises. Everything we have will fit into two backpacks and will be filmed by ourselves and friends along the road. We will be fundraising for skate-aid as we go, raising awareness and hopefully inspiring others to be the change, just as Skate-aid have to us. With each donation or effort made we hope that you too will become part of this movie and join in the adventure.
Please help by spreading the word about The Great Euro Skate as much as you can. Join the street team or meet us along the route if you are anywhere along the way. Come say hi. Let us camp in your garden. Come skate, come learn to skateboard too. It is for everybody.
If you think you can help with equipment or sponsors or your business would like to get involved or to advertise on our website or in any other way possible then please get in touch at thegreateuroskate@gmail.com. All money goes to this donation page and the Skate-aid projects you choose. Unity
Please support and help us make this the biggest thing possible. We can all do our small part to help be the change and do something creative (if not somewhat daunting at the moment). We are some of those people. Please join us and share #thegreateuroskate
Skate not bombs,
James & Gareth
