Glühwein für Malawi 2012 (English s. below)

Glühwein und Spekulatius, der Duft nach Tannen und Gewürzen … Es ist wieder Weihnachtsmarktzeit – neben all der Hektik auch Zeit für Ruhe und Besinnlichkeit. Und vielleicht auch Zeit, mal über das folgende nachzudenken: Ein Glühwein kostet vielleicht 4 Euro. Er wärmt den Körper und erfreut das Herz. Spätestens am nächsten Tag ist die Wirkung aber vorüber. In Malawi, einem der ärmsten Länder der Welt im südöstlichen Afrika, kann man mit nur einem Euro die Schulspeisung für ein Kind für einen ganzen Monat finanzieren. Der Gegenwert eines Glühweins reicht also für die Ernährung eines Schulkindes für mehrere Monate.
Ich will jetzt niemanden vom Glühweintrinken abhalten und gönne mir selbst auch welchen. Aber wer beim nächsten Weihnachtsmarktbesuch vielleicht einen Glühwein weniger trinkt und den Gegenwert im Rahmen dieser Aktion spendet, der kann sich die nächsten Monate immer wieder freuen, weil die Wirkung noch immer anhält…

P.S.: Alternativ nehmen wir natürlich auch gern den Gegenwert eines Lumuba, Eierpunsches oder Kinderpunsches etc. entgegen ;-)

Mulled wine for Malawi 2012:

Mulled wine and Christmas cookies, the smell of fir trees and spices ... It's this time of year again and the Christmas markets have opened. Besides all the hectics this is the perfect time for peace and quiet. And maybe also the time to think about the following: A glass of mulled wine (or glogg or punch) will cost about 4 Euro. It warms yor body and the heart - but only for a very short time, the next day it's all gone. In Malawi, one of the poorest countries in East Africa, we can fund the school feeding for one child for one month with only 1 Euro. So the equivalent of a mulled wine will pay for the nutrition of a child for several months.
I am not asking anyone not to have any mulled wine - I am going to enjoy some myself. But the next time you go to the Christmas market, why don't you have one glass less and donate the value to our project - and be happy about the effects even months later.
