RUWSEC's Health Resource Center

We have recently started a health resource center out of our Reproductive Health Clinic. We envision this resource center to serve as a center for:
• health information, education and communication for the community
• health promotion activities
• health care accountability mechanism
• capacity building of women in the community to become health leaders
• continuing medical education for health care providers

The resource center will be a bridge between the health care system and the community. It will be a place where a person could walk in and seek any health related information at any time.

Expected Impact of the Resource Center:

• Over time the community will take ownership of the center and will organize their own need based programs, activities and events.
• Creation of an empowered rural community with leadership qualities.
• This resource center will bridge the long standing gap between the community and the health care system.
• It will be a support system for patients to initiate life style changes and adopt health promotion behaviors.
• It will increase the availability and accessibility of health information for the villagers at their doorstep.
• As there will be resource people manning the center, the health information will be delivered in a personalized manner unlike the television messages, radio messages and newspaper information.
