Die Kinder der Schule im Dorf Ban Buamlao träumen davon Englisch lernen zu können, denn das würde ihre Chancen auf dem Arbeitsmarkt erheblich steigern. So wäre es ihnen beispielsweise möglich in Laos boomender Tourismusindustrie zu arbeiten. Solche Beschäftigungsmöglichkeiten mit Zukunftsperspektive sind gerade in einem der ärmsten Länder der Erde, wo noch immer ca. 80% der Menschen von der Landwirtschaft leben, unwahrscheinlich wichtig!

Die Kinder sind begeisterte und hoch motivierte Schüler. Während im Jahr 2006 noch 100 von ihnen die Ban Buamlao Grundschule besuchten, waren es 2007 bereits 140 Kinder.

Die Dorfschule besteht aus drei geschlossenen und einem offenen Klassenzimmer. Die einzelnen abgeschlossenen Klassenräume sind allesamt baufällig und weder an Strom noch an fließendes Wasser angeschlossen.

Der Schule mangelt es an allen Ecken und Enden an Materialien jeglicher Art. So haben manche Schüler zwar Lehrbücher, aber keine Arbeitsmappen, andere wiederrum besitzen Schreibhefte, haben aber keine Schulbücher, und einige der Kinder haben weder Bücher noch Hefte. Die wenigen vorhandenen Bücher sind außerdem in einem sehr schlechten Zustand.

Auch der Vorrat der Schule an Schreibpapier ist schon lange aufgebraucht und die Kreide geht ebenfalls zur Neige. Zusätzlich haben die meisten der Schüler weder Stifte, Radiergummis noch sonstige Schreibutensilien.

Das Dorf Ban Buamlao liegt etwa zehn Kilometer entfernt von Luang Prabang, nahe dem westlichen Mekong-Ufer. Seine Bewohner sind größtenteils Bauern in Selbstversorgung, welche das Land durch Brandrohdung urbar machen. Das Dorf besitzt weder Elektrizität noch fließend Wasser, und das Monatseinkommen der ca. 80 Familien liegt durchschnittlich nur zwischen 15 und 25€.

Durch Ihre Spende können Sie helfen das Leben der 140 Dorfschulkinder, welche alle davon träumen Englisch zu lernen, grundlegend verbessern.

    150 Hardbound writing tablets
    300 Small workbooks
    30 each of the Lao Math Books 1,2,3,4,5
    30 each of the Lao Language Books 1,2,3,4,5
    30 each of the Lao - English Books 1,2,3,4
    40 Lao Technology books for 12 & 13 year old students
    150 Pencils @1000 each
    150 Ink Pens @1000 each
    150 Erasers @1000 each
    150 Plastic Rulers @1000
    12 Felt tip markers at 3000
    12 Pens for teachers @ 5000
    4 120cm x 80cm writing boards
    24 Boxes of chalk
    2 kickballs

    Hi,

    Thanks for your question. The original plan was to use a local supplier for the equipment but we have a list of what equipment is needed so we could sort something out regarding an aid package if you have that facility etc. Please let me know if you have any further questions want more info.     Hi David,
    I have been to rural Laos twice last year and can confirm the conditions ou are describing. In Luang Prabang I bought some lao children books and distributed them to kids while travelling. It was really touching to see how much they were cherished! May I know how you keep in touch with the school? Do you bring over the supplies yourself or do you sent the money to somebody locally?

    Many thanks for your interest in my project.

    The project was brought to our attention by a photojournalist based in Laos. The supplies have been sourced from a local supplier and arrangements will made for the photographer and a local contact who helps the school to take the supplies to them. The money is wired direct to the supplier.
