About this project

The primary school education in Kenya is free. But classes are overcrowded with 80 students and there are not enough qualified teachers. Teaching methods are often outdated and not very suited to children. Violence is a major problem in many schools. This includes corporal punishment, bullying and even sexual abuse. There is a lack of classrooms and equipment, separate sanitary facilities for boys and girls and clean drinking water. Poor supervision and violence lead to many school dropouts.
Non Violent Communication Secondary school:
- provides a protected environment also for vulnerable children and girls together with the international campaign "Learning without Fear" and implements cultural change..
- trains contact persons to listen to the children, provide help and support, resolve conflicts and practice reconciliation
- coaches teaching and care staff in modern and child-oriented methods and in Non Violent Communication.
- builds additional and larger classrooms and plans a supply of drinking water and the construction of separate washing and sanitary facilities.
