About this project

Jan-Eric Dreßler from Nistkästen für Dresden e.V. is responsible for this project
After a very successful 2021 nesting season and a good start into the
2022 season, it is time for us as an association to discover new perspectives and raise our
association work to a new level. The encouragement of the people in the
and months has encouraged us in our work and shown that awareness of nature
and has shown us that people are aware of nature and animal welfare, but that
exists in people, but is often not implemented enough in practice.
As educators, it is our conviction that the seeds of later action should be sown at an early age.
As educators, it is our conviction to sow the seeds of later action in childhood and to give our young fellow human beings the knowledge and tools to act self-effectively and to shape their future.

This conviction gave rise to the idea for our "Spatzennest" project.
and we would like to start implementing it in spring 2023. The idea behind the project is to provide child day care facilities with the appropriate
to start directly with the children on the topic of nature and the environment.
For this purpose, each selected facility will receive a package from us consisting of
2 nesting boxes, a pedagogical booklet with information sheets
and colouring pictures, a handicraft sheet for a bird memory,
a beautiful bird poster and information material for the adults.
Equipped with these materials, the children, together with their educators, can
with their educators and get to know the wonderful world of our songbirds.
world of our songbirds. The children not only learn how to
nature, but also learn in a playful and creative way about the
the necessary knowledge to recognise and name the most common songbirds.

Our nesting boxes made of larch are delivered to the day-care centres as a kit. Pre-treated and pre-drilled by us
the boxes only need to be assembled and attached to the trees.
Our lovingly designed colouring pictures invite children to creatively explore the typical characteristics of the individual bird species.
Our photo-memory not only promotes the children's motor skills, but also their cognitive skills.
Our photo-memory not only promotes the children's motor skills, but also their cognitive abilities by training their memory and spatial imagination.

Throughout the year, our nesting boxes can be observed and, with a little luck, the children can see how carefully the bird parents take care of their offspring.
Through appropriate garden design, the birds can be additionally supported and the kindergarten
and the kindergarten children get the opportunity to take on responsibility through regular

For the duration of the project, we will continuously expand our educational materials and
and create media access to the topics of nature and nature conservation through numerous videos.
