    About this project

    B. Ndagire from Support to Children is responsible for this project
    The Mosquito Nets Drive

Mosquito nets are a means of preventing Malaria infections. Malaria is a life-threatening disease caused by parasites that are transmitted to people through the bites of infected mosquitoes. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a child dies of malaria every 30 seconds. There were 247 million cases of malaria in 2006, causing nearly one million deaths, mostly among African children. Malaria takes an economic toll - cutting economic growth rates by as much as 1.3% in countries with high disease rates.

It is upon this background that Support to Children sought to reduce the impact of Malaria by providing mosquito nets to the children in the program to reduce their risk to death and suffering at the mercy of this killer disease, and also to improve their performance not only in school but also in other extra-curricular activities. An insect-side treated mosquito net costs anywhere between $15-20.00. Our goal is to at least provide 1000 mosquito nets every year.
