About this project

The Centro Social Fabio Sandei is located in the district of São Cristovão in the northeast of the metropolis of Salvador da Bahia. São Cristovão is located near the airport and is one of the poorest parts of the city. The community center offers kindergarten care, homework assistance, active recreational activities for students (drum, ballet and capoeira classes) as well as continuing education for the older children (sewing, baking). In addition, regular medical and dental care is offered. In addition, the residents of the district can take advantage of legal advice. It is planned to build a small health station.

São Cristovão had the reputation of being one of the most violent districts of Salvador. In their hopelessness, the children quickly fall into drug circles, become criminals or sell their bodies. In order to prevent this, the non-governmental organization Dom Bosco is working in this district to improve the quality of life for people affected by poverty, street violence, famine and difficult social circumstances. By promoting education, health, nutrition and recreational activities, new livelihoods and future prospects are created for children and young people.

Dom Bosco operates three kindergartens which are attended by 260 children aged one and a half to six years. Each of these children receives three meals a day. That is 780 meals a day, which have to be financed by municipal subsidies and donations.

In order to expand a kindergarten, a neighboring property is to be purchased. Further costs of the project are the construction of the building and the equipment of the school rooms. This expansion will create an additional 120 places for children in need.

Become part of this initiative and help us achieve our goal of another kindergarten. From food parcels to co-financing the land: with every donation you can help these children to have a better future!
