Who are we: a small volunteer team ("Schützt das Leben" = Protect Life) dedicated in our free time to help rescue dogs from the streets and kill shelters in Romania. At the moment we have in our hands over 300 dogs!
The problem: Unfortunately, a lot of dogs will be abandoned due to illness, pregnancies, or even because they are too old. In Romania, after 2013, a law passed that allowed any dog that spent longer than 15 days in the public shelter to be taken to a kill shelter. Since kill shelters are remunerated for their services, this enticed the mass-capture and killing of dogs.
Our mission: Our vision is to have a world in which people give a voice to animals and show respect and compassion instead of pain and suffering. In order to do this, we have to spread our message and raise our voices in representation of those who are abandoned to reach a change in the political environment through campaigns and projects.
How you can help: At the moment we have over 300 dogs in our private shelter and currently saving another 150 from the kill shelter. Not only do we provide food, water, and medical services to the dogs but we also have to pay a fee to save them from the kill shelter. So we are looking for donations that help us support/rescue, bring back to health, and find a warm home for the poor abandoned dogs.
With ONE adoption one rescues TWO lives. Not only the one from the adopted dog, but also leaves a spot open at the private shelter to rescue a dog from the kill shelter.
