Why is football so popular around the world? You only need a ball and two bottles, stones or branches as goalposts, and you’re off! But, if a decent ball isn’t available, then even the world’s supposedly simplest sport becomes unattainable.
African Eagles FC is a small football club that was founded in the township of Imizamo Yethu in Hout Bay, Cape Town. Simon came to them in the spring of 2019 and has since been involved in the training of 30 children. What can we say? The kids lack nearly everything! Proper shoes, jerseys, vests, balls, cones and goals! Everything that we expect on a football pitch, their children and club members need.
That’s why we decided to support the African Eagles FC with sports equipment. We know the local coaches and we know the children. We have a personal relationship with them and the more equipment there is, the more the children come to the football field every day to laugh, play and forget everything else! And we all know: children who play on the pitch, exercise, and keep busy, are less likely to get into mischief on the streets.
Our donation goal: 2,000 €
What will this be used for? Jerseys, balls, shoes, vests, cones and goals! Above all, we want to give the township, which has almost 35,000 inhabitants, the opportunity to finally have two high-quality goals, which can then be used by all the other football clubs from the district. But, decide for yourself what your donation will go towards!
