Since 2007 the associations DAZ e.V. and Information Technology Village (IT Village) from Dapaong / TOGO have been working together. The aim of our work is to give young people in the very underdeveloped and poor savannah region in northern Togo perspectives for their lives.
IT Village was founded in 2006 on the initiative of Dipl.-Ing. Yawo Etienne Dable. Etienne Dable lived in Germany for 13 years. He had come to northern Germany as a refugee, studied electrical engineering in Hamburg and then worked for a large publishing house in Hamburg. In 2003 he became an active member of DAZ. In 2006 he returned to his homeland.
Already in Germany, he considered how he can help develop his home region economically, the savannah region in northern Togo. We promised him to support his initiatives. So began an interesting and today we can say successful cooperation.
IIn 2013, IT Village founded a vocational training center and college in Dapaong, the BONITA House. The focus is on education in the field of organic agriculture. Craftsmen, computer scientists, accountants, office assistants and merchants are also trained.
Private training centers, including the BONITA house, do not receive financial support from the state. On the contrary, the state demands a registration fee for the training center every three years.
The BONITA Haus must therefore charge tuition fees. These can not be payed by many families in the savannah. In order to enable young people from poor families to participate in the training, we set up the DAZ sponsorship program.
The training is very practice-related. For example in agriculture the work in the fields and in the animals supplements the theoretical lessons.
Our common vision
Through the DAZ sponsorship program, we offer young people in northern Togo the opportunity to further their education.
„Our“ sponsored youth come from difficult backgrounds and without financial support they would not be able to finance education or study. Our program allows young people to start their education or study and eventually become well-educated members of their society. We believe in the power of education and its ability to increase opportunities. The youth in our sponsorship program are chosen based on their academic performance and their needs, not on a personal relationship or preference. The program includes necessities such as school fees, but we also offer pocket money. We want to ensure the physical and mental well-being of „our“ sponsored youth as they participate in our program. DAZ e.V. is looking for long-term sponsors who can support „their“ sponsored teenager until the completion of their studies.
Unfortunately, there is not always a sponsor. That is why we are looking for support for some scholarship holders in this way.
