"If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?"
The Bible - James 2,15+16
According to the UN, 821 million people suffered from hunger in 2019. That is 11% of the world population! Experts assume that Corona will cause 130 million more people to suffer from acute hunger in 2020. Due to weeks of curfews and the resulting loss of earnings, many people are now lacking the bare essentials to survive.
We want to help with our options to alleviate hunger. Our motivation for this is our belief in Jesus Christ.
Rwanda officially has just over 1000 corona cases and only 3 corona deaths (Source: COVID-19 dashboard from Johns Hopkins University). Nevertheless, the consequences in this small, very densely populated country are serious. Our partner in Rwanda is therefore distributing food parcels to families and young people in need without relatives.
"Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’"
The Bible - Matthew 25,34-40
