Support Buddhist wisdom for the world

Almost 60 years ago, when 6,000 monasteries, libraries and universities were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, Tibet lost a huge treasure of Buddhist wisdom. Most of the scriptures did not survive this destruction.  

 

The Tibetan Nyingma Meditation Center (TNMC) was founded in the late 1960s by the high Tibetan Lama Tarthang Tulku to preserve Tibetan culture and make the wisdom of the Buddhist teachings accessible to the West. Since 1989, the TNMC's Yeshe De Text Preservation Project has printed over 5 million books of Buddhist wisdom teachings. For over 30 years, the books have been distributed free of charge to thousands of monks, nuns, and lay practitioners each year at the World Peace Ceremony in Bodh Gaya, India. From there, these books spread throughout Asia, thus contributing significantly to the preservation of this wisdom tradition of mankind. 

 

Our team of volunteers in the USA is motivated and invests a lot of time and energy to preserve the Tibetan texts that contain the valuable teachings that would otherwise be lost. The work in Dharma Publishing's printing and bookbinding facilities is practical and physical. Every year, volunteers print thousands of Tibetan books, dye the edges, pack them into slipcases and boxes, and prepare them for shipment to India. 

 

 

All over the world, people today are deeply concerned that peace and harmony are slipping away from us. Buddhist wisdom can help us to develop a deep and true compassion. For this reason, it is especially important to preserve the Tibetan Buddhist tradition with its valuable literature. The Nyingma Centres collect donations worldwide for the printing and dissemination of the texts of this outstanding wisdom tradition.
