SmileChild Emergency School Project

Idlib, Syrian Arab Republic

We are building a school for 50 children living in a tent village, in northern Syria. Currently they sit on the floor. We will equip them with everything needed and will assure a daily meal for each child during school days. #DonateASmile

About this project

BE PART OF CHANGE
50 children urgently need your help

We were made aware of a small refugee village near a small town in northern Syria where 50 school-age children currently live. The children and their families had to leave Idlib overnight and now call tents their home, which unfortunately could stay for years.

There are 3 teachers on site, who are happy to teach the children aged 5 to 12 years. Officially, the school year has begun, even for the 50 children - but their school? Their school consists of a large leaky tent that is carpeted, the children sit on the floor. Some of them have never been to school before and do not know what a real classroom looks like.

Therefore we would like to help these children with our #SmileChild school project! We make their tent tight, equip it with tables and chairs and a blackboard, and each of them will get a backpack filled with pens, textbooks and exercise books.

The children are taught by the teachers in 2 shifts, one group in the morning, one in the afternoon. We will also serve the children a daily meal at school + a drink.

With your help we would like to ensure the operation of this school for the next 6 months. THE SCHOOL YEAR HAS ALREADY BEGUN!

We would also like to send one of UOSSM's mobile clinics to the children, who will treat them according to the IMCI protocol. It includes the improvement:

  • of nutrition,
  • primary health care and
  • prevention

The treatment of a child costs us about 10 € (including indirect costs)
and is especially in the case of malnutrition essential.

On behalf of our entire team and all children: THANK YOU to every single donor!
