The Nossob Primary School is located in the Omaheke Region in Namibia. At the school, about 700 pupils are taught by 21 teachers in grades 1-7. The attached hostel is home to 180 children, for whom the daily commute would be too long. An above average number of street kids are visiting Nossob Primary School, and the numbers are still growing. Ideally, the hostel would need twice as many beds as are currently provided. At the same time, these kids often need special support and attention.
With the growing numbers of pupils, every year the school is expanding. Currently, the school even lacks basic classrooms due to the increasing number of kids. As a result of the limited space, some are taught outside under the trees, exposing them to difficult weather conditions as it is rainy season. Similarly, heat from the sun and insufficient shade hinders learning. Teaching material, such as books, chairs and other resources are damaged.
Currently, the school lacks funding to finish the construction of four urgently needed classrooms, forcing children to be taught outside. By supporting the Nossob Primary School you will enable the kids and teachers alike to create an adequate and sustainable learning environment.
