About this project
The social music project offers free instrumental lessons for children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds in the Prohlis district of Dresden. The lessons take place exclusively in the group and thereby promote values and skills such as tolerance, responsibility and communication as well as creative processes, self-confidence, patience and perseverance. Every interested child can participate, regardless of (musical) education, social and economic background and country of origin. About 60% of the participating children and young people have a migration background (as of 2025).
Musaik opens up new perspectives for children and young people from different social and cultural backgrounds, provides them with a musical education, and promotes social integration and cultural participation.
The intensive musical work three times a week after school creates a sense of belonging and community. Through regular public performances and workshops in the Dresden district of Prohlis, this feeling is also carried into the social space - to the parents and residents of the district. Musaik thus creates equal opportunities, strengthens togetherness and changes society for the better.
On 12 December 2018, a first appeal for donations of EUR 4,000.00 was launched via Betterplace. Much to our delight, this donation goal was reached in mid-January 2019.
There is always a need - be it to finance the regular holiday projects, new instruments, general association work or "team shirts" for the children.
Thank you very much for your support!
