Construction of a polyclinic in Suwareh Kunda
In the region around Suwareh Kunda and Kerewan live about 7,000 people without any basic medical care. The nearest treatment centers are in Barra (56 km) and Banjul (63 km). To get to Banjul, where there is a larger hospital, a journey of at least 2.5 - 3 hours is necessary, including the crossing over the Gambia River - if the ferry to Banjul works. For this reason, a much needed project. The new building of the polyclinic is to be constructed on the site of an existing school.
The medical care should be organized by local partners. Particularly in the initial phase, we need help from doctors and medical professionals to provide volunteer support on the ground. Thereafter, two local doctors are to perform treatments two or three times a week in the clinic.
This is our first project on health care in Gambia. For this reason, we would like to receive professional support. In particular, we are interested in the exchange of experiences with people and organizations who have already initiated and carried out such projects.
