    About this project

Maylis du Bot from Berlin Glas e.V. is responsible for this project
Multaka: Museum as Meeting Point – Refugees as Guides in Berlin Museums is a collaboration between four of the State Museums in Berlin. The project invites Syrian and Iraqi refugees to be trained as museum guides so that they can provide guided tours for the public. The objects in the museum serve as the “meeting points” (Multaka) for participants to reflect on their own cultural backgrounds, as well as present an opportunity to strengthen cultural awareness and sensitivity by helping refugees learn about German culture and history.

In May 2016, the organizers of Multaka approached Berlin Glas to teach workshops at the Berlin Glas studio. The workshops are intended to create similar, mutual exchanges and opportunities for participants to get to know one another using, instead of the museum galleries as a meeting point for conversation, the process involved in making art.

To date, we have run 8 workshops, and with your support, we will be able to continue this wonderful programme well into the future!

    Thank you!
