    About this project

    C. Meuer from In our own quiet way is responsible for this project
When Bernadine Angalusha from Kakamega/Kenya came to Germany in 1997 she soon found a job and had a safe income. She felt the need to give some of her “prosperity” to the people living in her hometown.

Like almost everywhere in Africa the people in Kakamega are lacking the bare necessities and there is only little or no support from the government. Many children are orphans and live in the streets. Their parents died mostly of Malaria or HIV.

Due to Bernadines zest for life and energy a lot of people are enthusiastic about her ideas and over the course of the years she managed to collect money for Africa and her organization “in our own quiet way”.

Since 2010 this organization is recognized as a non-profit organization and an orphanage, a training center and a house, where HIV-infected woman find shelter, have been built. In addition a solar system has been installed.

Since November 2016 the orphanage has a water filter called PAUL (Portable Aqua Unit for Lifesaving) donated by the Lions Club Rheingau, which avoids the infection with typhoid and other diseases.

In the training center, which has been completed recently, the young people living in the orphanage can participate in training courses so they can stand on their own two feet when they leave the orphanage. Bernadine wants every child to get a good education/training.

The money donated will be in very good hands. Once a year Bernadine and a group of volunteers travel to Kakamega and stay there for several weeks in order to help and plan further needed projects.

The organization is supported amongst others by Raiffeisenbank Aschaffenburg eG and Lions Club Rheingau.
