    About this project

WCIMH 2017 B. from Institut für Sozialmedizin, Charité / Berlin is responsible for this project

Crowd-Funding for World Congress Integrative Medicine & Health (WCIMH), May 2017 (Berlin)

    WCIHM
There is increasing interest in integrative medicine, the blending of the best in complementary with conventional medicine. This is especially evident in the management of chronic illness, where the use of Western Medicine at times falls short in patient care. Integrative medicine improves the quality of care by focusing on the patient-provider relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies and practitioners to achieve optimal health and healing.

The World Congress on Integrative Medicine & Health 2017 will take place May 3rd to 5th 2017 in Berlin. It is convened by the European Society of Integrative Medicine (ESIM) and the International Society for Complementary Medicine Research (ISCMR). In order to gain and promote the interest of prospective physicians for this field, there will be a designated track at the Congress specifically focused on medical and other students in the health professions and physicians in training and is co-organized by the YPIH (Young People in Integrative Healthcare).

Our aim is to facilitate networking among students and young doctors as well as with practicing professionals engaged in integrative medicine. This opportunity will not only be provided during the regular sessions and workshops of the Congress, but also in the context of an accompanying program co-sponsored by YPIH.
By using a crowd-funding campaign, we wish to obtain funds to lower the cost of participation for students and trainees and those from underserved areas. We consider the early exchange of junior physicians who are interested in integrative medicine, with leading researchers and practitioners in the field as a valuable and effective way to inspire the next generation of forward-thinking clinicians dedicated to improving the health of the public.

For this purpose we are seeking to raise approximately 16,550€. We wish to lower the costs as followed:
    1. 50% Reduction of the participation fee for students: as the early-bird registration for students is 190€, this correlates with a sum of 95€ per student and we are aiming for 50 student awards.
    2. 50% Reduction of the participation fee for doctors in training (residents and fellows): as the early-bird registration is 590€, this correlates with a sum of 295€ per head. We would wish to provide awards to 40 trainees.
With your support, the field of integrative medicine will be enhanced through the awards that will provide students and trainees with the opportunities to interact with leaders in the field. Any amount, small or large, is greatly appreciated.

We thank you in advance very much for your help!
