Making an everlasting difference in lives of children

Is lasting change really possible?
I could tell you many stories that say ‘yes.’ Today, I can say just one.

In 2010, a little boy named Bruno was born in Gayaza, Bisanje sub county in Masaka Uganda. In her village, school was seen as a luxury. Most children ate just one meal a day. People drink unsafe water, its water teeming with bacteria that caused sickness, blindness, even death. But life in Gayaza was about to change.

NIRP sat with the community to share their dreams for their children. They knew it would take time and hard work, but they yearned for a better future. Now, thanks to the support,
concern and prayers of donors like you and other charity organization, that future is taking shape.

Bruno's community is on a journey of lasting change. And this year, 2 communities
who have partnered with NIRP are completing that journey. They are now independent, and no longer need our support.

While we can never meet every need, we’re excited to tell you that:

• Parents have the power to provide children with food, clean water, education and
healthcare.
• Families are meeting shared needs, forming community gardens, starting businesses,
and caring for orphans and vulnerable children.
• Community and women self help groups are committed to advocating with local governments, holding them accountable for promises like extending services to the local people providing teachers and doctors.

Bruno’s community is a few years from full independence, but this is the direction
they’re headed. In the meantime, he is healthy, loving school and spreading her
wings for a very different future than what might have been.
