Luz, the Light Learning School Foundation, Inc. was established in 1999 as the first private kindergarten and elementary school in Magdalena, Laguna. It was built by the longtime sole benefactor, Manuel Francia to honor his deceased wife who grew up in the small quaint town. Its aim was to provide the best quality education for marginalized but gifted children at a very minimal cost. At first, the school had 100 students but through the years, enrollment dwindled due to hard times and most students cannot afford the Euros 168.37 yearly tuition. The past 4 years saw a steady decline of students at 65 average per year which greatly reduced the school's funds necessary for its operation, reference and story books, teachers' salaries and have stopped the science lab installation. Unfortunately too that our benefactor have suffered a serious illness which critically affected the subsidized school operation. IF the school cannot sustain its operation for this year, then we do not have a choice but to close it down.
It is now my sole mission to look for funds or ask for donations from kind persons or companies for story books, educational references, science books, lab equipments, audio visual training materials for teachers training in English, Math and Science subjects and subsidize teachers salaries at Euros . Simply put, we need everything and anything you can give. By saving our school, 65 students and 10 teachers will benefit from your generosity. We will then continue to mold their beautiful minds and shape their characters in the 6 Pillars of Character program we advocate. We will continue to recognize and reward their Multiple Intelligences innate in each child and most importantly, we will continue to help these children have a better future through the best educational foundation they can get. Hopefully, we would have helped them rise above their poverty of both mind and body. We would also have transformed a small society mired in small town gossip, politicking and marginal income by producing godly, principled and productive youths for tomorrow.
