Together with volunteers (mainly alumni of United World Colleges), we are supporting initiatives in Turkey (and whereever needed most) providing for food and basic needs to refugees who are without any help by the government.
Turkey now hosts at least 2.5 million refugees, many of whom are living in a dire situation. They have to pay rent for the space on which they pitch their tents, and are charged for electricity and water from local landowners. They can at best afford food, but only if they work for Euro 15.00 a day.
As refugees get pushed back into Turkey, this already tense situation will undeniably worsen further. Already, children and adults are malnourished and becoming increasingly vulnerable to health issues. This is an urgent situation that requires us to act immediately.
Let us work together to respond to this ongoing crisis in Turkey and make it possible to reach emergency relief to the people in need.
