About this project

Objectives
-Study green turtles ecology and the main threats that affects sea turtles survivorship at the foraging and developmental area of Cerro Verde, Uruguay.
-Determine the main causes of death and evaluate how fishing activities and solid marine debris contributes to sea turtles mortality.
-Rehabilitate and reintroduce injured and/or sick animals as result of the incidental capture by fisheries and marine debris ingestion.
-To provide fast and effective action that will best serve the well-being of the sick stranded and incidental captured turtles.
-To give a complete veterinary assistance to the individuals in the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Centre.
-Raise awareness among the local comnunity and general public on the conservation status of sea turtles populations.
-Increase public awareness among the current sea turtles status, main threats they are suffering and the critical value, at the national and international level, of Cerro Verde as a foraging and developmental area.
-Involve local communities in conservation activities in order to reduce sea turtles mortality.
-Provide training on sea turtles biology and conservation on foraging areas to national and foreign students and proffesionals.
