About this project

F. Friedrich from The Buzzard UG (haftungsbeschränkt) is responsible for this project
Help to build the first geoblogging-platform worldwide and make political bloggers and activists better heard! The four biggest news agencies control more than 90 percent of all news that are printed in newspapers; while at the same time more and more independent publishing houses dye out or are taken over by bigger media companies. However, independent voices and alternative opinions are essential to understand the big picture and see the full spectrum of current global political debates - and to be able to make better founded and informed political decisions.

That's why we founded The Buzzard: the first geoblogging-platform of the world. On this non-profit online-platform political bloggers can share their blog entries and video reports from anywhere on our interactive thematic online maps. Readers on TheBuzzard.org can thus enter a new geographical dimension and fly like the bird - "the buzzard" - above the different local perspectives and stories of the political bloggers, get an unprecedented, singular overview and swoop into every region of interest - to be provided with additional context, background information and link to the report.

The first test-version has already been built. We're proud to have achieved this without spending any money and just with the incrediblly useful help of our voluntary supporters.

Now, this situation has changed, and we need your help. Without financial support we cannot make the next steps and build the first open version of our geoblogging- and information platform: a successful launch of the platform demands more expertise and time invested in design and coding, and a payment of a fee to an experienced designer and developer. Therefore, we ask for your help!

We might not be able to diminish the market domination of big news outlets. But with your support, we will empower the independent, local voices of political bloggers and activists that fight for press freedom, justice and equality - and help to create a less biased and more informed process of formation of opinion in Europe and especially in countries where the press freedom is heavily restricted.

If you have any questions, please contact us via betterplace, send us an email or have a look at our (still quite simple) homepage: www.thebuzzard.org.

Thank you very much for your kind support!

All the best for you.

Yours Felix Friedrich, Dario Nassal und Alexander Diete
