Graduation 2016 - now what?
Every student asks this question at the end of high school - I did too. I’ve finally made my decision. Before I begin studying at college, I’d like to study abroad for one year to help people and learn another language.
Because of my sister, who also took a gap year after graduating from high school, I quickly found a suitable organization that met my desires and expectations. This organization is called Volunta, which is a subsidiary company through the German Red Cross. I recently applied and am happy to say that I was accepted as a volunteer for a year. I am greatly looking forward to it. The voluntary service I will be a part of will help me in choosing a profession.
Dear friends and supporters -
My name is Leonie, I am 18 years old and I live near Rosenheim, Bavaria. Through Volunta, I will be living in the largest city in Bolivia, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, starting in August 2016 and will be staying there for one year. I will be volunteering as a medical assistant in a hospital. The service assisting me while I am away is called the International Youth Voluntary Service, or abbreviated in German as IJFD. The IJFD is the learning and educational service of the Federal Ministry for Families which provides young people with exciting opportunities to get involved abroad.
But unfortunately, the IJFD is only partially funded through the government. The remaining costs are provided through Volunta, the Bolivian partner organization and sponsor. Volunta supports each volunteer abroad with 140,- € per month. To cover the remaining costs, I ask for your help to raise a total of € 2,940 for my year in Bolivia.
For this I need your help and your donation!
I kindly ask you to help me and Volunta with a donation, so that it is possible for me to take my gap year. Every small donation helps. You can transfer your donation directly via this website betterplace.org. All donations will be passed on to Volunta.
In addition to working in the hospital I will also have time to travel in the country. Bolivia has such diverse and incredible scenery and culture that I would like to visit and get to know better.
If you’d like to follow my year, I suggest you to read my blog. I will regularly write about my experiences and upload photos there.
Please share this call for donations with family and friends and on social networks, even if you can’t donate!
I am thankful for this wonderful opportunity and will be even more thankful if you help out.
Thank you very much!
