According to the organization “Infancia trabajadora”, more than 2,400 children are currently working in poor conditions in the streets of San Cristóbal de las Casas.
These children often suffer from malnutrition, with their main food intake consisting of greasy crisps and drinks with high sugar contents.
In the hope to satisfy at least their basic needs, we aim to offer them healthy and nutritious meals.
With your support, we will set up a dining hall as a place of cooperation, support and solidarity.
Further goals will be the creation of respectable jobs for these children.
In the bakery of Chantiik, some children have already been taught how to cook and bake. Also through classes of “Camarería”, some children are also being trained as waiters and waitresses.
Through this, they are given the opportunity to start a decent job and can then share their experiences with other children in the dining hall.
This project will be self-supporting: The guests' payments will cover both the children's meals and the cook's and waiter's wage. The children will give a symbolic payment to receive their healthy meals.
This way we hope to create a sustainable environment which will be based on the principles of solidarity and altruism.
We need your help to kickstart this project and finance the necessary equipment as well as rent of the dining hall to make this dream come true.
More than 500 children will benefit from your support by receiving healthy meals, being given the opportunity to begin a job and learn from the shared experiences in the dining hall.
