Grüße von Francis - Pro-A-kids e.V. geht ins neunte Jahr

Unser Projektmanager in Timau, Francis Wambugu, hat kürzlich einen Brief an alle Mitglieder und Spender formuliert, den wir sehr gerne weiterleiten:

Dear Members and Sponsors of pro-A-kids.

It´s great to have you in this organization. I feel humbled. We look back to a year of great challenges and productivity with big success.

Years ago when we started if we had said that one day 80 kids would have classes, dining hall, a kitchen , a store and a sanitary building, one would have said it’s a dream too far to reach. Today it’s a reality because of you all; the children now will enjoy having their meals in clean, hygienic, well lit and spacious dining room. They will no longer eat in the scorching sun and the dusty windy compound. The meals will be freshly prepared with vegetables sourced from the garden in school. The store will provide safe, dry and clean place to store food stuffs and the utensils. It will be free of rats and other pests normally crawling in the old kitchen/store. It is spacious enough to accommodate all. 

Schools are better locations in which to enforce certain behaviors in children than the home. Schools provide an arena where sanitation can be shown at its best, and certain positive hygienic behaviors (hand washing with soap before eating and after going to the toilet) can become an engrained habit at a young age. Kongoni ECDE is the perfect example in the region to offer such a facility. This behaviour if reflected at home will improve health and hygiene too. All this success never went without challenges; there were constant consultations when work never went as planned. It would give Elke Bär, our new Chairperson Margit Borgböhmer and our Architect Klaus Pastner a hard time to figure out an amicable solution to issues arising. But everyone had a big smile when we returned back on track. 

It´s very true that life is better when you are happy: but it is best when others are happy because of you. You have touched the hearts and lives of these little ones in a very special way.
