    About this project

    J. Bredenbeck from Sozialwerk der Christengemeinschaft Rhein-Main is responsible for this project
A group of 32 students of the Waldorf School in Darmstadt in Germany, four students and three adults are traveling from July 27th to August 19th to Namibia. Our location, where we will spend most of the time, is the biodynamical cultivated farm Krumhuk (www.krumhuk.de). Here we will meet with Namibian youths and we will hold a school holiday program for Namibian children. For both events we will create an appropriate meeting place.

The whole project has the following four parts:
    1. Building Project
Target of this sub project is to create the meeting site for the youth and children. Two old stone houses in the bush will be functionally expanded. Attached to the buildings we will create a free space and a camping site.

    2. School Holiday Program
About 70 children of the Aris farm school will be able to participate in the children holiday program. Our young people are developing a creative program with games, crafts, singing, dancing and more. This will create many totally new experiences for these children from which they may benefit long time. Our young people exert to take responsibility in accompanying younger children. Many of them have already experience from similar events in Germany and in Switzerland.

    3. Youth Exchange
The German youths will spend much time together with same age Namibian youths. They will exchange and discussion about questions moving the youths from both countries such as their goal of life and career, social change, disease (AIDS) and other topical issues.

    4. Country and Nature
Beside the Farm and the town Windhoek we will experience desert part of the Country. We will visit the environmental project NaDeet (Namib Desert Environment Education Trust). This project is all about sustainability, for example we will learn and appreciate that water is the most important, most precious resource in Namibia. By guided tours, we will gain an insight into the Namibian wildlife.

The entire project will cost about € 60 000. A large part is financed by the participants. They already have raised substantial funds through donations from foundations and through actions and work assignments of the participating youths. Yet still there is a financing gap for its close. We would like to advertise support here. The funds are used for building materials, which are used on site, as well as for materials and meals for Namibian children and youths on site. Another part is required to enable young people from socially disadvantaged families to participate in the project.

We look forward to receive even very small donation from you.
