    About this project

    M. Geltch from Statenberg Learning Village (Slovenia) is responsible for this project
For the past two years, Statenberg Manor in north eastern Slovenia has hosted an International Learning Village.

In Summer 2014, again, we are inviting the international Art of Hosting community, innovators, teachers, children, young people, learners and artists to join with people from the local region for a week of co-creating in a multigenerational community.

We wish to create a place where people of all ages and backgrounds are invited and valued – a safe space to explore new ways of working and being together – a place where everyone belongs. We will share hope, ideas and energy and collaborate on real world projects that matter to us.

Our dream is to build on the past years’ meetings and create a strong international community, with lasting relationships and collective capacity.

This is a heart-felt invitation to be with ourselves, each other, and with the magical place that is Statenberg Manor - check for details on our website http://statenberglearningvillage.weebly.com

In line with our Shared Economy approach, we decided to create this betterplace.org presence in order to enable more people to participate in the sharing, even from far away: our intention is to make the Learning Village accessible to everyone who wishes to join regardless of their economic situation.

To support this, we have again chosen a Shared Economy model: a cooperative, responsibility-based approach to funding the Learning Village where the community as a whole holds the financial responsibility.

We are aware that different participants have different capacity to pay. Taking into consideration the costs of the event and your own financial resources, you are invited to contribute what you can.

This year, we are proposing a low cost daily participation fee, for those who live locally and want to be a part of the Learning Village, for a day or more, or for the whole week!

In this experiment, we are trusting that those who have more money, will be willing to contribute more and that those who have less, can contribute what they can. All together, we are expecting enough money to come in to cover our costs.

We are listing all concrete needs and some options for supporting individual participants on this platform, for you to choose how to contribute.

Besides covering costs for refurbishing the space for kids and youth, incl. a new sink, heating, and remuneration for volunteer tradespeople, we also offer sponsorship of local participants: we wish to include the local community as much as possible, despite financial challenges. With EUR 33 or some part thereof, you help to cover costs for one local participants for one day.
