The biggest sundial is already there - in Berlin - but actually nowbody can see it. We want to make it visible to everyone. The Berliner Fernsehturm along with its shadow and surrounding buildings should function as the largest sundial in the world. Every full hour, the tower casts its shadow on a specific rooftop, façade, or place in its near periphery. These respective surfaces mark each hour of a clock and should be artistically styled to make the sundial visible. Each work of art will stand alone, yet also combine with the others to form one giant work of art. Ideally, this clock-face should be visible from the tower’s observation deck and naturally from the ground.
The “largest sundial in the world” would contribute to increased tourism and would support the urban significance of Alexanderplatz. The sundial artists will be sponsored and strongly promoted by the project.
