About this project

With hundreds of thousands of people cut-off from the rest of the world by flooding, and mudslides in Mt. Rwenzori; over 15,000 people have been brought to safety in Kasese municipal town. Most rivers bust their bunks and caused floods in Kilembe, and Kyarumba sub counties, killing two people, and displacing thousands of others yesterday 6th May, 2014.
The area's main hospital has been damaged by the ravaging floods. The risk for an epidemic, especially by water-born diseases is so high.
Most of these displaced people are women and children who are lacking essential and basic needs like food, safe drinking water, shelter, clothing and medicines.
Children and the elderly are especially at a greater risk of dying from extreme coldness, hunger and disease.
We are humbly appealing for US $ 317,790 emergency relief assistance to assist the local authorities provide essential supplies of food, drugs, clothes, drugs, and safe drinking water to the internally displaced people in Kasese district.
