    About this project

    C. Ihle from Gleisdreieck e.V. is responsible for this project
Crossing Borders with Communication is a project of the Nonprofit Organisations PROFONDO e.V. and GLEISDREIECK e.V. dealing with the contemporary communicative interaction of young people within Europe and the opportunities as well as the bounderies even dangers that come with it. The Project title refers to the two main strings of the youthmeeting: On one hand the topic obviously deals with geographical borders. In terms of Europe´s high mobility raise among young people of certain European countries the long known subject on international and even universial communication has become more important and current than ever before. -Especially for the young emigrants and their far away families but also for their new neighbours, colleagues and acquaintances in their new homes. On the other hand the title refers just as much to personal borders that challenge young individuals in their daily life which is influenced by aspects such as changing prosperity of society, the power of web 2.0, the urbanisation and detachment of nature and much more, these days.
As the premise of this youthmeeting reads in the quote above: „One cannot not communicate“ the upcoming International Youthmeeting will enable young people of five different European countries to spend 11 days in Hannover/Germany in order to cross geographical and individual borders together discovering, learning and using appropriate communication in different circumstances, always focussing on their very spheres, forms, interests and challenges of verbal and non verbal interaction. Each country is invited to participate in the program with a group of 4 to 8 youngsters (age 15 to 25) and one teamer (at least age 18) who is officially responsible for the group. The meeting will take place from 16th until 27th August 2014 in the „Gleisdreieck“, the conference house of the hosting associations.
During the Youthmeeting we want to share general as well as more detailed information on subjects like recognizing conflict situations, present/express oneself in front of a group and through art, interacting in a virtual world etc. Furthermore we want to make new experiences by learning language-detached communication through working with animals, communicate in extraordinary and challenging situations by camping on a farm and also creating an own cross border language over the whole meet. We will prepare and also reflect the actions together by talking about personal experiences, national perspectives and the European opinion and attitude towards the subjects we are dealing with. Presentations, discussions, practically-based actions, experiments and other methods may form the structure of the meeting. The young participants will be able to try out new forms of communication as well as critically reflect on their own methods and ways of communication. Moreover we plan to visit a biological farm, do workshops, meet with experts, sightseeing and lots more.
