    About this project

    A. Hellmann from Growing Seeds of Africa is responsible for this project

Honey is a delicious food and is also valued in Kenya. The prices obtained with honey are high and stable.
Beekeepers thus have promising prospects of earning an attractive income with beekeeping and the sale of honey.

With an unemployment rate of 50% casual worker earn  3 € a day. This is not a promising life perspective, if you do not know if you will earn an income tomorrow.

Beekeeping costs little money and does not require intensive care. In contrast to keeping cows, sheep or chickens no costly vaccinations have to be done and medicines bought.

A good beekeeper can harvest up to 50 kg of honey per colony per year and sell it at a market price of 4 € per kilogram and, in our view, offers great prospects for creating your own perspective and a decent, responsible life.

In addition, as the bees increase crop yields through their pollination, the farmers also benefit and a contribution to safe food production is made.

To become a beekeepers will not be realized overnight. A beekeeper needs a broad knowledge and experience to become a successful beekeeper. Not for nothing is the beekeeper in Germany a three-year training occupation.

Andreas Hellmann has been active in Kenya for several years and has built up his second home there. Since he has been a beekeeper for more than 20 years, he would like to pass on his knowledge and motivate people to start beekeeping.

In addition to theoretical and practical training, we also provide young beekeepers with the initial equipment after successful training; Bee hives, protective suits and tools ready. Although relatively small, the initial investment represents an insurmountable hurdle for most beekeepers.

We also noticed that the many small beekeepers have difficulties in marketing the honey. For example, we are planning to set up a cooperative, where we can buy honey for fixed and fair prices from the beekeepers and then sieve, bottle and market under brand with the necessary technology.

Thus, the circle closes with the clear goal in the future to become financially independent and the costs of training, initial investment, etc. are covered by the marketing of the honey.

We would be delighted if you support this project and we can build the project and give many people in Kenya a life perspective.

    Sincerely,
    Andreas Hellmann
