About this project

Dirk Meyer * Präsident from KSC ASAHI Spremberg e.V. is responsible for this project
The project ‘Inclusion with and through HYROX’ aims to create encounters between all people. HYROX is a fitness race that enables people with disabilities to take part in the competition. This creates integration.

The project: ‘Inclusion with and through HYROX’ goes one step further and unites both worlds. People with disabilities compete together with people without disabilities as a team in the doubles (for two) or in the relay (for four). In this way, the project is committed to diversity in order to live and create inclusion.

In order to take part in competitions, you have to train beforehand. This presents challenges for people with physical and mental disabilities. These people need special support in their day-to-day training. The project helps them to master everyday training.

Encounters occur on various levels. For example, at the HYROX competitions, but also at various running events, when training together or in everyday contact between members.

At the competitions, the encounters that take place before, during and after the competitions are important to us.

HYROX manages to integrate people with disabilities into sports competitions. Many athletes with disabilities have successfully completed HYROX races. The slogan ‘HYROX is for eyerbody’ is apt. But is this sport really for everyone? Unfortunately, people with disabilities/impairments often have a low income and cannot afford to take part due to the costs involved (entry fee, travel costs, accommodation). How inclusive is sport then?

We want to get involved and work to ensure that integration and even inclusion can be achieved with our project.

Our members, whose places of residence are spread across Germany and even internationally, network through the diverse encounters. The origin, age, gender, education, social status and individual life situations of our members are diverse. With this diversity, we are always learning from each other and, above all, with each other. By ‘learning together’, we acquire skills that help us to organise our everyday lives. In line with our idea of ‘social sustainability’, the skills and networks we acquire create significant added value for the people in our neighbourhood.

The prerequisite for this is, of course, the opportunity for participation and involvement!

We would be delighted if you could support and help us to further develop the project and the encounters.

Any help is welcome and appreciated.

Thank you very much!
