What Problem Is Translators Against War Addressing?
Ukrainian refugees in Germany face significant challenges: administrative processes, documents, and conversations often require language skills they do not possess. Without translation or interpretation, access to education, work, and support becomes unnecessarily difficult.
Who Do We Want to Help?
Our project focuses on Ukrainian refugees who:
- Need documents translated (e.g., applications, school certificates).
- Require assistance during conversations with authorities, schools, or healthcare providers.
What Have We Achieved So Far?
We’ve created a digital platform that connects refugees with volunteer translators and interpreters. Here’s how it works:
- Submitting requests: Refugees can request document translations or on-site interpretation support via the platform.
- Matching with volunteers: We assign the best-suited volunteer based on language skills and availability.
- On-site assistance: Volunteers provide in-person support for appointments and meetings.
Who Is Involved?
Our team includes:
- Volunteer translators and interpreters fluent in Ukrainian, Russian, and German.
- Technical developers who continuously improve the platform.
- Board members responsible for overseeing operations, managing finances, and ensuring the project’s success.
- Partner organizations that provide additional support and resources.
What Is the Project Timeline?
- Immediate: Providing translation and interpretation services through the platform.
- 6 months: Expanding our volunteer base and adding new features to the platform.
- 12 months: Scaling up capacity and considering additional languages based on demand.
