The himmelbeet is a community project in Berlin Wedding that has existed since 2012.
As a collective, we design two gardens:
The himmelbeet garden with raised beds on the corner of Gartenstraße and Grenzstraße and the ElisaBeet, a solidarity-based educational garden with a vegetable plot at St Elisabeth II cemetery.
We garden socio-ecologically and work for more justice, more togetherness and more perspective. We offer many learning opportunities and workshops. We help other groups to set up further gardens in Berlin.
We believe that everyone should have access to spaces, things and knowledge. Diversity is important to us and that is why we endeavour to include everyone, including those with special needs.
We make this possible through volunteering and inclusive environmental education.
We want to create places together that can be used and designed by everyone. This also means breaking down barriers and becoming more inclusive step by step.
What do we need support for?
The financing of our basic structure is the biggest challenge we are currently facing.
Our project currently receives no structural funding, which is essential for sustainable and stable development.
We are therefore dependent on your help and every donation!
Our basic structure includes in particular the areas of volunteer coordination, bookkeeping and administration, networking and public relations, project development, free offers and maintenance.
Every donation helps to keep our project going!
Thank you very much for your support!
