    About this project

iHELP Kassel e.V. from iHELP Kassel e.V. is responsible for this project
Lernberg aims to overcome language barriers for migrants and refugees in Germany. Current programs like JobTurbo require migrants to start working directly after an integration language course and continue learning the language on the job. This method is often ineffective, as migrants lack the specific professional language skills needed for their jobs. Within the framework of a language course, it is nearly impossible to achieve sufficient language proficiency due to the lack of time and capacity from the language teacher.

    Our target groups are:
    • B2C: Migrants and refugees in Germany learning German. In current language courses, they often lack opportunities to practice speaking. In our scenario-based language training, they can practice as much as they want, whether with an AI avatar or in conversation with other learners.
    • B2B: Companies that need skilled workers and rely on foreign labor. These companies often do not have the resources to fund extensive language courses for their employees. With our product, employees can acquire the language skills they need for their jobs, enabling them to work effectively within a few weeks.
    • B2G: The German government, which invests billions annually in ineffective language courses. Teachers in these courses do not have enough time to individually support each student and provide sufficient speaking practice. With our help, this task can be delegated to AI, which supports basic language skills and exam preparation (especially the speaking part).
Lernberg is a role-scenario simulator based on artificial intelligence that helps migrants and refugees experience exactly what they will encounter in real life. Through interactive exercises and conversations with an AI avatar or other users, participants can specifically improve their German language skills for their professional requirements. Our approach allows learners to go through specific scenarios and roles they will face in their professional lives, developing the necessary language skills and soft skills.

Our team consists of two front-end developers, two back-end developers, a product manager (trained teacher, licensed BAMF language instructor), an experienced CTO, and a designer. We are already collaborating with the Language Center at Uni Kassel, the City of Kassel (Mayor), and the VHS Association, and we are continuing to expand our network.

We plan to release the first version of our MVP within the next six months.

Donations will be used to pay our development team’s salaries, purchase servers and data traffic, and support the development of our own neural networks.
