Yazidi Community Archive - Preservation & Remembrance of the 2014 Genocide

The Yazidi Community Archive reprocesses the history of the 2014 genocide and preserves memories by telling the stories of the Yazidi people through their own personal material. A particular focus is on the human, often very intimate, dimension of the catastrophic events of 2014, focusing primarily on personal testimonies from female survivors. The goal is to preserve this unique and important material and make it accessible for future generations. In doing so, the Yazidi community will be involved in the project through community-based approaches and will become key actors in the telling of their story. The material will be interpreted from an intersectional feminist perspective and made accessible to the general public through an international exhibition and educational opportunities.

HÁWAR.help is an NGO registered in Germany and Northern Iraq, working for women and persecuted minorities since 2014. With projects in Northern Iraq and Afghanistan, our geographic focus internationally is the Middle East. We work to strengthen the rights of women, children and minorities through development and education projects at home and abroad, as well as international awareness and education initiatives. We aim to promote openness, compassion and a reconciliatory attitude in global society and always advocate for these values through our work.
