iGEM 2023 TU Braunschweig Recap

Dear donors,  
We would like to close this project with a short review of our iGEM participation in 2023.
We started our Betterplace campaign with the hope of receiving some financial support for our participation in iGEM. We did not expect to receive so many generous donations and were even able to increase our donation target thanks to your support! We are very grateful for that.Thanks to your support, we were able to finance lab materials, team jumpers and part of our trip to the final conference in Paris.
With our Li+onswitch project, which enables lithium detection and quantification using a molecular, lithium-sensitive on-off switch (a so-called riboswitch), we were able to win the prize for the Best Diagnostics Project and a gold medal in Paris. In the overall ranking, we placed among the top ten and our self-designed DNA construct for the detection of lithium was nominated for Best Composite Part. We invested a lot of time and work in this project alongside our studies and are very proud of this success. We learnt a lot during the project, which will be useful for our future careers.
