For over 20 years, Jonathan e.V. and Copiii Europei e.V. have operated the Educational and Community Center in the former parish house in Stein (Dacia, Romania). This center serves as a place of cultural and social connection and, since 2010, has hosted a unique school project. Here, 15-20 children from various backgrounds (Roma, Hungarian, Romanian) receive a caring and safe education. Beyond academics, the children experience a sense of belonging and are provided with a warm meal each day — often the only one they receive.
The school project was awarded the Radebeuler Courage Prize, highlighting the value of this work for the children and the region. This recognition underscores the importance of offering real opportunities to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
As the historic building requires ongoing maintenance, several repairs have been necessary in recent years. A severe water damage incident in 2022 made a comprehensive renovation of the deteriorating roof essential. Through private financing and the invaluable support of volunteers, who saved approximately 7,500 € in labor costs, we were able to begin the necessary roof repairs.
As of October 2024: The original target amount of 60,000 € was reduced to 52,483 € thanks to volunteer efforts. Of this total, we have already raised 26,301.25 € through Betterplace and received an additional 16,751.68 € in direct donations to the organization, bringing the total collected so far to 43,052.93 €. We now need only 9,430.07 € more to clear the remaining debt and complete this vital renovation.
Every donation — large or small — brings us closer to achieving this goal, securing the future of the school project, and continuing to provide a stable, supportive environment for these children.
Please support us and share our project with your friends and family. You can even start your own fundraising campaign to help with your community’s support.
Thank you for your invaluable support!
