Live with Hope Foundation

About us

Live with Hope Foundation (LwHF) is a not for profit Organization formed in July 2006. It started as a response to the needs created by HIV/AIDS pandemic raging in the region and the increased cases of Female Genital Mutilation against innocent girls and women.Female Genital Mutilation is a procedure involving partial or total removal of external female genitalia for non-medical reasons. It is mainly done in the name of culture but it’s a practice which dehumanizes women and clearly lowers their status in the community. In Uganda, the practice is prevalent among the Pokot, Sabiny, Tepeth and Nubians. FGM is mainly carried out on young girls between the age of 12 and 16. It exposes women to psychological and physical trauma. Many of the victims suffer silently for fear of being excommunicated due to social cultural attachments. If FGM is stopped, girls shall be liberated from the horrible custom. Women will start for the first time to enjoy sex and immediately stop the short term consequences of FGM like bleeding, infections, shock and death of new born babies.

Vision: An empowered community where all young girls and women live to their full potential and their aspirations are fulfilled.
Mission: To improve the quality of life of girls and women affected by Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) through providing psycho social support, love, care and compassion
Overall Goal: To alleviate the Psycho social and health consequences of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) among individuals, families and communities across the target area.
Motto: “We care to serve”

Dear donors,
when managers of a project haven't requested a payout over the course of a longer period, the German law and our terms of use provide that we (gut.org gemeinnützige AG, operator of betterplace.org) use the money for our tax-deductible purposes. The same applies to the cancellation of a project, where the manager of the project is unable to realize it.

Therefore we will use these donations for the following purposes

Thanks for your support,
the betterplace.org-team
