Riverside Agribusiness Services (RASE) is a local organization involved in training small-holder farmers on adoption of improved integrated farming technology through demonstration, field orientation, learning by doing and farmer participatory approach at the farmer field schools. RASE is proposing to establish 70 Farmer Field Schools (FFS) in Homa Bay and Kisumu counties of Kenya to accommodate 1,755 small-holder farmers. The targeted households can be further broken down into: 510 male adults; 967 female adults, 139 male youth, 139 female youth, and 5,265 children, making a total of 7,020 people to be reached with this project. Homa Bay County is leading in poverty level in Nyanza, according to government of Kenya research. High poverty levels led to rising school drop out rate, girls more vulnerable as they end up involving in sexual immorality, leading to early pregnancies, spread of HIV/AIDS & early marriages. 10 FFS will train 250 farmers in increasing poultry sector productivity and access to safe poultry products - important source of protein and iron for children and the households. 1,000 people will directly benefit from the poultry project. To establish the 10 FFS for poultry, we require EURO 56,625, which translates to EURO 57 per person per year.
Therefore we will use these donations for the following purposes
