Bach Collegium München e.V. - Coronahilfe
managed by Bach Collegium München
About us
The Bach Collegium Munich is an independent orchestra. In the 1973/74 concert season, the orchestra was founded by master class students from the Munich University of Music and Theater. The solo violinist and first concertmaster of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Florian Sonnleitner, first became concertmaster of the Bach Collegium Munich before replacing Kabitz as musical director in 1979. In the years that followed, numerous members of the Bach Collegium Munich were given leading positions in the three major symphony orchestras in Germany. The repertoire of the Bach Collegium Munich ranges from works by Monteverdi and Handel to the Romantic period and contemporary composers (it is worth mentioning the collaboration with Dave Brubeck and Jacques Loussier in extraordinary jazz projects that have appeared on sound recordings and with many classical music stars). However, the orchestra became famous above all with its interpretations of the Viennese Classic era and its legendary Bach interpretations with Peter Schreier, Enoch zu Guttenberg and the Munich Bach-Choir.
