Lessfortunate And Needy Victims Dev. Foundation-SL

managed by T. Bockarie

About us

Brief Description of the organization
The Lessofrtunate and Needy Victims Development Foundation-Sierra Leone (LaNVIDEF-SL) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, but purely a humanitarian and Volunteer Community Based Organization (CBO) that was founded on January 6th, 2002 in Free town Sierra Leone after the brutal and psycho and social period (crisis and conflict) by Timothy G Bockarie, and was setup on January 6th, 2008 by a group of friends who had the same vision. It mission is to eliminate human suffering and human rights abuses in rural and slum communities in Sierra Leone, with opportunities that empower people to live independent lives free from poverty, disease and hunger.

LANVIDEF-SL was founded to alleviate poverty, extreme hunger, suffering, and to stop the spread of deadly diseases, and to promote humanity in and out of Sierra Leone, regardless of colour, ethnic, disability and other issues affecting rural and slum communities in Sierra Leone. The organization was set up as a result of the observation that rural communities in Sierra Leone could greatly benefit from guidance and advice in co-operative community-based initiatives to help ordinary people to increase their income generations, and because there is a large number of people in the local area who are in need of assistance, financial or otherwise, who would benefit from the input of an organization designed to help them to help themselves. All the programmes that LANVIDEF initiate are designed with the aim of promoting long-term benefits for the individuals and groups involved.
LANVIDEF-SL works to sustain and strengthen grass root communities, slum and urban areas, through Advocacy and Human rights for the promotion of equality for all.

🇺🇸 Dear supporters,
Thank you for your enthusiastic support of the “Miles for Malabon” project so far. Today, I’d like to tell you about my next big tour.

On August 15, my next big ultracycling adventure begins—the Silk Road Mountain Race (SRMR) in Kyrgyzstan. My desire to participate grew during the North Cape 4000. The long paved stretches through Scandinavia made me curious to try mountain biking on loose terrain someday.

The SRMR is unlike any race I’ve done before. For that reason alone, I’d be very grateful if you’d support the fundraiser again—so we can keep a firm grip on what we’ve started.

Live Tracking & Updates During the Race The race takes place in remote terrain. Cell service is often limited there. Tracking is done via satellite. As a result, my Dot may not move for a while—that’s just how it is.
I’ll try to share a few messages and pictures at checkpoints or whenever I have reception. I can’t make any guarantees—I hope you’ll understand.

Regular Updates In the blog posts on my website, you’ll find regular updates on my preparations during the crunch time in July.

How Your Donations Will Be Used As with my previous tours, I’m raising funds for a project that’s particularly close to my heart: the street children’s project in Malabon, a poor neighborhood in Manila (Philippines).

In the slums of Manila—and especially in Malabon—many children live under extremely difficult conditions: Often without a permanent home, without a steady supply of food, and without reliable access to education. Violence, disease, and a lack of prospects define their daily lives.

The project helps through very concrete measures: - Freshly prepared meals every day to keep the children healthy and strong. - Care provided by dedicated staff who have time to create a safe environment. - Education and school instruction to provide a long-term path out of poverty.

With your help, we can give these children hope and a real future.

Thank you so much for your loyalty and commitment. Together, we can make a big difference—on the bike and beyond.

With athletic regards, Bert
