YNPD Organizational Profile

Background:
As a common problem emerging among the whole youth of Nepal that youth are wandering here and there without any good guidance and jobs. Especially the youth of south region in Nepal are going to join arms and non-arms groups because of the lack of good education and platform for engaging their leisure times in social creativities. Hence youth Network for peace and Development, mahottari was formed in 2064 B S uniting seven youth clubs from the remote rural areas of seven different VDC’s to have an initiation jointly for the rural youth engaging them in peace building and development works.
Vision:
YNPD has a vision of prosperous Nepal with the leadership of youth leaders, where the youth manipulated still, will be in leading place and the adults will be for advices.
Mission:
YNPD attempts to build youth leaders starting from the rural areas and changing their thought of having money before work supporting hands showers their helps on them.
Introduction:
Youth Network for Peace and Development Mahottari (YNPD) is a youth led organization formed in 2064 BS in coordination of five clubs from five VDCs of Mahottari and established in 2066BS with the coordination of seven youth clubs from seven VDCs of the district. It is a network of youth clubs now being a common plat forum for the youth of Mahottari districts discussing youth problems, its solutions and the way of implementing project according to the problems.
Current Priority:
YNPD has many issues, though our current priority is to make the local youth clubs active for peace building and youth leadership for community development process in the district.
Networking and collaboration:
YNPD seeks a strategic and sound relationship among the development partners, whether they are funding agencies, implementing agencies or facilitating organizations. YNPD helps local people at the first priority as they are the major development undertakers in our networks. Also we dare to establish our relationship with the funding organizations: those can support peoples initiatives, meaning fully already a chain has been established among some funding partners and national, international campaigns.YNPD has already acquired a recognition from Search for Common Ground Nepal (SFCG), All people’s Development Centre, Lahan Siraha (APEC), Aastha Nepal , Mahottari, Rural women empowerment project Mahottari, Prayas Mahottari, Association of Youth Network Katmandu (AYON), National Youth Federation(NYFN) , UNDP/LRP, UNICEF, UNFPA,DDC Mahottari, UNOY Peace Builders, Creative International Forum(CIF) , Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) .

VISION
YNPD vision is to be the primary support and platform for Youth represented by a Rural to nation of informed, empowered and committed in decision-making to a better world, a world of economic and social justice and Youth Movement for "Social Transformation, Peace and Prosperity in prosperous Nepal where youth leadership and rights should be insured by system.

MISSION
Facilitate through various means the development of a dynamic and informed and able to influence policies and actions at all levels of to build youth leaders starting from the rural areas and changing their thought of having money before work supporting hands showers their helps on them through youths’ leadership involvement in all decisions level.

GOAL
Promoting and improving youth from Grass root level to national and internationally with networking, social Transformation, peace and prosperity in Cohesion with access.
Objectives:
• To make the youth able to lead the local level development activities.
• Engaging youth in Community Health, Environment and Sanitation program.
• To help providing pure drinking water and personal hygiene.
• To make them able to lead the whole nation.
• To make them able to participate in decision making process.
• To aware them about their own role and responsibilities.
Working Module:
YNPD aims to carry out research, implementation and advocacy campaigns as per the youth of Nepal needs. To work in different sphere of development concern and peace building, YNPD team members’ volunteers, specialist are engaged developing sector wise and peace building plan and strategy.

Membership and staff:
In order to equip the organization with professional human resources, YNPD has already provided general membership to more than hundred developments workers including experienced social and development activitist, engineers, professional teachers., sociologists, social workers, youth clubs, and governmental and non-governmental youth organizations. Under the direct supervision of 15 members executive bodies, program coordinator, office secretary, accountant and 6 social mobilizers, it has also opened a forum for interested development volunteers to engage and explore new development potential necessicititated by communities.



Policy of the Youth Network for Peace and Development, Mahottari
To make a prosperous Nepal through the development of youth leadership is the main policy of YNPD. It believes that only the youth can make better future if they are well trained and endowed with good leadership skill and knowledge. So it attempts to build new types of youth power, different from the current situation and environment. It mainly focused to the youth who are living in rural areas. So, YNPD has developed Administration policy, Financial Policy, Staff Policy , Organizational Policy.

Strategies of the Youth Network for Peace and Development, Mahottari
Youth Network for Peace and Development is an organization struggling for the whole empowerment of the local and rural youth who are still not provided any opportunity for exploring their internal talents. It is totally an organization working for youth and youth organizations to make them able to reach in the decision making level for improving the local societies and the whole Nation.
It has its own methodology to work for youth. It aims to gather and make an alliance of the organizations working on youth and for youth, the organizations led by youth. It presents itself before the youth organizations as a forum from where a new kind of youth power can be produce to improve the total situations of the nation.
It has about 43 youth clubs as organizational members and about 131 individual youth as general members.18 youth clubs are in process of membership. It provides skills to the youth network as per they needed and also facilitates in conflicts which are not solvable by the youth clubs in their societies. It is also an organization serving as volunteer in Mahottari District for youth and for the national and international organizations.
Its main aim is to empower the youth of this nation at the level from where they can be able for independent. The youth can stand on their legs. It has several activities running regularly among them the two are most important activities: Youth Festival annually and Youth Information Centre. YNPD has already developed 3 years strategy plan 2014 -2017.
