About us

KYHAS is a non profit making organization in 2007 and registered with the government of Uganda statute 1989 on 25/06/2008 Registration No. SN/08/2008 under Community Development Department, Community Based Services Soroti District Local Government, and also registered with UPA in 2009 to participate in community development work.

KYHAS /UPA branch is in Kasilo County, Serere District, Eastern Uganda. Kasilo county is a semi arid area with favorable conditions for agriculture and fishing hence is located on lake banks of lake Kyoga. The community mainly live on the natural resources.

People in Kasilo county do multi – business, people prefer the area since many people do fish and grow some crops for selling like millet, cassava, sorghum, sweet potatoes and fruits like mangoes, oranges and pineapples etc many people flock to the area and drink in pubs which has resulted in the high rates of HIV/AIDS in Kasilo and many target school girls who are desperate with valuables like cell phones, money, shoes etc.

Lack of jobs in the areas also has resulted in high rates of alcohol drinking, resulting rape, commercial sex, prostitution end result contracting HIV/AIDS.
